Randy was born and raised in Fremont OH and a 1969 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. After high school Randy attended Toledo University majoring in engineering. After 2 years at the university he left to pursue a career in retail sales. Randy was blessed with his great grandfathers mechanical ability, and in 1972 Randy pursued a career in the machine trades.
In 1975 he obtained a journeyman’s card. Throughout Randy’s career in Fremont OH he built molds, machinery for the battery industry, special machinery for various industries, and the last 23 years of his career he was in the blow mold industry and migrated into the CNC division and management. Throughout the course of Randy’ career he supported his father E.B. Christy helping maintain equipment at the Christy Company.
In 2006 Randy took over the Christy Company due to his fathers passing. In 2007 Randy purchased the Christy Company. At that time he changed the company name back to its original name – The Christy Knife Company. It is important to Randy to carry on his family’s legacy and continue manufacturing the pocket knife. Today Randy uses the original equipment and same procedures used in the 1930’s to manufacture the Christy Knife.
